Day Trip to Ballarat
We went to Ballarat last Friday to celebrate Australia Day. It was a good day. The sun was out and the temperature was good. Upon arriving ...there were no people in the streets, and the stores were closed. It sure looked like a ghost town to us. We were even wondering if we went to the right place...or if it was true that there was nothing to see there. We drove around hoping that we'll be able to see people in the nearby stops from our map. Frustrated, we ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant that is supposed to be close to the Little China Town, that we did not even find. The food was forgettable but it satisfied our hunger.
We then opt to go straight ahead to Sovereign Hill. The people that we were looking for were there. The nearby parking was full and we had to go farther away to get a spot...
The place looks like a scene from a Western movie. There were mines, shops, horses, and even people in costumes. We has fun walking around. We tried old fashioned bowling, drank from old fashioned bottles, gold panning, magic shows and even went down mines. We learned about the history of the place and at the same time experienced how things were before. It was good fun even though the sun was very hot.
After sovereign hill, we decided to go to a beach. On the way we saw a pool that pulled us to stop by and swim but it was closing in an hour so we decided not to go. On the highway, we then remembered that we saw a castle on the way. We decided to stop by and took pictures. We then planned that we will go there next time to see the inside of the castle and also to swim at the pool. hehehe
We then went straight ahead to Williamstown Beach. The guys planned on sleeping at the back of the van but we had too many tsismis that they never had the time to sleep. We saw a lot of people upon arriving at Williamstown and that made us ecstatic. hehehe. It was very windy when we arrived, there were a lot of waves that I did not see the week before. It was good that Eva brought her mat. We then all tried to fit ourselves into it as it is only good for one person. We then just sat down to enjoy the wind and the sights, and of course took pictures!!! We then went to eat dinner at a nearby place. But after eating a lot of junk food we were not able to eat as much.
We thought the trip was going to be a disaster but we all laughed and had fun. ^_^
